To Whom it May Concern:

Members of the AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health Committee and San Diego Pediatricians for Clean Air (SDPCA) are overlapping organizations that are committed to protecting the welfare of children’s health, especially safeguarding their respiratory health through advocacy for clean air. AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health Committee, SDPCA and the individual physicians and community members listed below would like to support the nomination of Dr. Sabrina Perrino for Treasurer of the AAP-CA3 San Diego Chapter

Dr. Perrino is uniquely qualified for several reasons. First, she is passionate about the AAP, as reflected through her enthusiastic involvement in several aspects within the AAP, such as being a member of the section on Minority Health, Equity, and Inclusion; the Council on Environmental Health; and the CA3 CA3 COVID & School Partnership Committee. Additionally, Dr. Perrino won the AAP Program Delegate Award in 2014 and served as the District IX Communications Director from 2014 to 2015. Second, she is extremely qualified as a medical expert having earned her medical degree at the New York Medical College and trained through the Pediatric Residency program at Loma Linda University where she won both the Mother Teresa Award and the Sparkling Personality Award in 2015.

Dr. Sabrina Perrino is also committed to advocating for climate change and health, and is co-founder of SDPCA.  She was an early member of the AAP-CA3 climate change and health committee.  She has been active in our committee on multiple projects.  She volunteered to be a judge on our recent Youth Arts Contest and regularly shows up at meetings. She has worked on several of our legislative advocacy projects, and organized our recent #lesslittermorehealth event as part of our committee’s participation in the Creek to Bay I Love A Clean San Diego San Diego wide event.  She has also volunteered to give climate lectures at several residency programs including her own program at Loma Linda.  We have found her an invaluable and contributing member to our committee.

Dr. Perrino is currently a Pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, where she provides direct patient care to children and was voted into the SCPMG Partnership in 2019. She is a member of the Kaiser SD Pediatric Vaccine Committee and leads the ADHD pediatrics quality committee.  She also mentors first-generation college applicants. She has unique leadership qualifications such as being the director of Academic and Professional Development of the Afghan-American Community Organization. Dr. Sabrina Perrino has strong ties to the community as a life-long San Diegan and proud graduate of Mira Mesa High School, through her excellent reputation as a pediatrician, but also through her leadership and community service experiences that would make her well suited for this position.

Dr. Perrino would provide the AAP San Diego CA3 Chapter with the leadership experience and background to be an effective secretary for this committee. The following individuals enthusiastically endorse her application. If they are chapter members, it is indicated below.

Sincerely,

Dr. Vi Nguyen, Co-Founder SDPA and Co-Chair of AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health

Vivian Nguyen, Student Co-Founder SDPCA, Volunteer Intern AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health
