Our coalition is proud to join with the American Lung Association and American Cancer Society in addressing the local youth vaping epidemic. San Diego Pediatricians for Clean Air officially joined the San Diegans vs. Big Tobacco Coalition https://sandiegansvsbigtobacco.org/.

Did you know? “4 out of 5 kids who have used tobacco started with a flavored product” and that “Tobacco companies hook our kids with enticing flavors like gummy bear, cotton candy, mango and ‘smooth menthol.’ Our Mayor and City Council can protect our kids by ending the sale of all flavored tobacco products – including flavored e-cigarettes, cigars and menthol cigarettes.”

Our founding mission statement specfically addresses tobacco and vaping in our mission statement, “We seek to educate the public regarding the dangers of air pollution, tobacco use, and vaping that threatens children’s respiratory health.”

Our SDPCA is lead by Dr. Peony Liu, a pediatrician who specializes in hospital medicine, and Riley Gilbertson, one of our premedical interns passionate about pediatric respiratory health. Our youth anti-vaping advocate is Alice Nguyen, a senior at Westview High School. Our MD leadership team at SDPCA are also active members of the American Academy of Pediatrics, San Diego chapter and are proud to amplify the voices of health professionals with AAP San Diego Chapter leadership.
